Overview

UnitFlip ("the app") is a fast unit converter for iOS. It converts measurements across categories including length, weight, volume, temperature, speed, digital storage, time, cooking, fuel economy, pressure, angle, and currency. UnitFlip stores favorites, preferences, and cached rates on your device. The free version may show Google AdMob ads. This policy explains what data UnitFlip accesses, what stays on-device, and what is shared with third-party services.

UnitFlip is developed and operated by TheChosenVictor LLC ("we," "us," "our"). Victor Solano owns TheChosenVictor LLC.

Data We Access

In-App Purchases

UnitFlip offers a one-time, non-consumable purchase ("UnitFlip Pro") that unlocks additional conversion categories (fuel economy, pressure, angle), live currency rate sync, and unlimited favorite conversion pairs. Purchases are processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit 2 framework. We do not handle or store payment information.

Network (Pro currency sync only)

Pro users can enable daily currency rate sync. This fetches exchange rates from a third-party API. The request contains no personal identifiers. Free tier users use bundled rates with no network requests.

Bug reports and support requests

If you submit a bug report or support request, UnitFlip sends the message you write, app context needed to diagnose the issue, and your optional email address if you choose to include it. We use this only to provide support and improve app functionality.

Advertising and Consent

The free version of UnitFlip may show Google AdMob ads. UnitFlip uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to request and display ads and the Google User Messaging Platform SDK to collect and manage consent where required.

These Google SDKs may process information such as device identifiers, the device advertising identifier when permitted, IP address, coarse location derived from IP address, advertising data, app interactions, crash logs, diagnostics, and performance data for ad delivery, ad measurement, fraud prevention, and service improvement.

Conversion inputs, favorite conversion pairs, cached currency rates, and app preferences are not sent to Google for ad targeting.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, UnitFlip uses Google's certified consent management flow before requesting ads when consent is required. Users can consent, decline consent, or manage options in the consent message. If privacy options are required in your region, UnitFlip also provides a privacy options entry point in Settings.

Where required for personalized advertising, UnitFlip uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before allowing tracking that depends on the device advertising identifier. If you allow tracking, ads may be personalized based on your activity across other apps and websites. If you deny tracking, non-personalized or limited ads may be shown. You can change your tracking preference at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Data We Store On Device

UnitFlip stores the following data locally on your device:

  • SwiftData: Favorite conversion pairs (unit names, category, sort order), cached currency rates (code, name, rate, timestamp).
  • UserDefaults: Last-used category and unit pair, decimal precision preference, appearance setting, currency update frequency.

None of this app data is synced to any cloud service or backend. There are no user accounts.

Data We Do Not Collect

UnitFlip does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • Your name or phone number
  • Your email address, unless you voluntarily include it in a bug report or support request
  • Your precise GPS location
  • Contacts or calendar data
  • Browsing history
  • Conversion inputs, except where stored locally as favorites or cached app state
  • App-owned analytics or usage telemetry outside the ad delivery described above

Google processes advertising data in accordance with their Ads Data Processing Terms. Google acts as a data processor for certain advertising data and as an independent data controller for other data, as described in their terms.

Data Retention

  • On-device UnitFlip data is retained until you explicitly reset it within the app or uninstall the app.
  • Currency rate data is cached locally according to your currency update settings.
  • AdMob data is retained by Google per their data retention policies.
  • StoreKit purchase records are retained by Apple per their policies.

Data Deletion

You can delete all app data at any time:

  • Uninstall: Removing UnitFlip from your device deletes all locally stored data (SwiftData database and UserDefaults).
  • Reset preferences: Open Settings within the app to reset individual preferences to their defaults.

To request deletion of any data processed by Google AdMob, refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details on data deletion and your rights.

Your Rights

For All Users

You may:

  • Access your data by viewing your favorites, settings, and cached rates within the app.
  • Delete your data at any time by uninstalling the app, which permanently removes all locally stored data from the device.
  • Control ad tracking by changing your preference in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, or by changing ad consent preferences in UnitFlip Settings where privacy options are available.

European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Right to access (Art. 15): request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16): request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17): request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to restrict processing (Art. 18): request that we limit how we use your data.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20): request a machine-readable copy of your data.
  • Right to object (Art. 21): object to processing of your data for certain purposes.
  • Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7): withdraw your ad tracking or ad personalization consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

Since UnitFlip stores app data locally on your device with no backend and no user accounts, you already have direct control over your UnitFlip data. Uninstall the app to exercise your right to erasure for local app data. For data processed by Google AdMob, contact Google directly using their privacy tools.

For EEA users, Google acts as an independent data controller for the advertising data it collects through AdMob. TheChosenVictor LLC acts as the data controller for the UnitFlip app. You may contact us at [email protected] for any GDPR-related requests.

Data Protection Contact: TheChosenVictor LLC handles privacy requests for this app. A separate Data Protection Officer is not designated for the scale and nature of the processing described here. For all data protection inquiries, contact [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

California (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you:

  • Right to know: what personal information is collected and how it is used.
  • Right to delete: request deletion of your personal information.
  • Right to opt-out of sale/sharing: opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination: equal service regardless of whether you exercise your privacy rights.

You can opt out at any time by denying tracking in the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt, changing your preference in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, or changing ad consent preferences in UnitFlip Settings where privacy options are available.

To exercise any CCPA rights, contact us at [email protected].

Children's Privacy

UnitFlip is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child under 13 has somehow provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in the app or in applicable regulations. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
