Overview

UnitFlip ("the app") is a fast unit converter for iOS. It converts measurements across categories including length, weight, volume, temperature, speed, digital storage, time, cooking, fuel economy, pressure, angle, and currency. UnitFlip stores favorites, preferences, and cached rates on your device. UnitFlip is fully ad-free with no tracking and no third-party advertising SDKs. This policy explains what data UnitFlip accesses, what stays on-device, and what platform services are involved.

UnitFlip is developed and operated by TheChosenVictor LLC ("we," "us," "our"). Victor Solano owns TheChosenVictor LLC.

Data We Access

In-App Purchases

UnitFlip offers a one-time, non-consumable purchase ("UnitFlip Pro") that unlocks live daily currency rate sync with on-demand refresh and unlimited favorite conversion pairs. All 13 conversion categories are free for everyone. Purchases are processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit 2 framework. We do not handle or store payment information.

Network (Pro currency sync only)

Pro users can enable daily currency rate sync. This fetches exchange rates from Frankfurter. The request contains no UnitFlip account or advertising identifier, though the provider may receive normal network metadata such as an IP address. Free tier users use bundled rates with no currency-sync request.

Bug reports and support requests

If you send a native in-app bug report, UnitFlip sends the app name, bug category, the message you wrote, and an optional email address only after you tap Send. The support service adds the submission source and timestamp. It also stores a one-way hash of the request IP address with the feedback record for rate limiting and abuse prevention. The raw IP address is processed in memory and is not stored.

The public website support form uses the same support service and receives the app name, category, message, optional email address, submission source, timestamp, and one-way IP hash. Support submissions are stored in our support database and routed through Resend to the UnitFlip support inbox. Neither path includes conversion inputs, favorites, or cached rates unless you choose to type that information into the message.

Advertising and Tracking

UnitFlip does not show advertising of any kind. It does not include analytics SDKs, third-party advertising SDKs, consent SDKs, or a system tracking prompt.

Conversion inputs, favorite conversion pairs, cached currency rates, and app preferences are not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for cross-app tracking.

Data We Store On Device

UnitFlip stores the following data locally on your device:

• SwiftData: Favorite conversion pairs (unit names, category, sort order), cached currency rates (code, name, rate, timestamp).
• UserDefaults: Last-used category and unit pair, decimal precision preference, appearance setting, currency update frequency.

None of this app data is synced to any cloud service or backend. There are no user accounts.

Data We Do Not Collect

UnitFlip does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Your name or phone number
• Your email address, unless you voluntarily include it in a bug report or support request
• Your precise GPS location
• Contacts or calendar data
• Browsing history
• Conversion inputs, except where stored locally as favorites or cached app state
• App-owned analytics or usage telemetry
• Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data

Third-Party Services

Data Retention

• On-device UnitFlip data is retained until you explicitly reset it within the app or uninstall the app.
• Currency rate data is cached locally according to your currency update settings.
• StoreKit purchase records are retained by Apple per their policies.
• Support submissions remain in the support database until we delete them or you request deletion.

Data Deletion

You can delete all app data at any time:

• Uninstall: Removing UnitFlip from your device deletes all locally stored data (SwiftData database and UserDefaults).
• Reset preferences: Open Settings within the app to reset individual preferences to their defaults.

Your Rights

For All Users

You may:

• Access your data by viewing your favorites, settings, and cached rates within the app.
• Delete your data at any time by uninstalling the app, which permanently removes all locally stored data from the device.
• Control currency sync by leaving Pro currency sync disabled or using cached bundled rates.

European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

• Right to access (Art. 15): request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification (Art. 16): request correction of inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure (Art. 17): request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Right to restrict processing (Art. 18): request that we limit how we use your data.
• Right to data portability (Art. 20): request a machine-readable copy of your data.
• Right to object (Art. 21): object to processing of your data for certain purposes.
• Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7): withdraw optional support contact consent by not including an email address in future support requests.

Since UnitFlip stores app data locally on your device with no account or conversion-data backend, you already have direct control over your UnitFlip data. Uninstall the app to exercise your right to erasure for local app data. Contact us to exercise rights related to a support submission.

California (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you:

• Right to know: what personal information is collected and how it is used.
• Right to delete: request deletion of your personal information.
• Right to opt-out of sale/sharing: opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
• Right to non-discrimination: equal service regardless of whether you exercise your privacy rights.

UnitFlip does not sell or share your personal information for advertising. UnitFlip does not collect advertising identifiers and does not perform cross-app tracking.

Children's Privacy

UnitFlip is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child under 13 has somehow provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in the app or in applicable regulations. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
