Terms of Service

VaultSnap Last updated: March 19, 2026

Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using VaultSnap ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app.

VaultSnap is developed and operated by Victor Solano ("we," "us," "our").

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use VaultSnap. This age requirement corresponds to the app's 17+ rating on the Apple App Store. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

Description of Service

VaultSnap is an iOS application that provides an encrypted photo vault for storing photos and videos privately on your device. The app includes:

  • AES-256-GCM encryption of all stored photos and videos using Apple's CryptoKit framework
  • Biometric unlock via Face ID or Touch ID, with a PIN fallback
  • Decoy vault that displays alternate content when a secondary PIN is entered
  • Break-in detection that optionally photographs failed unlock attempts
  • Zero cloud storage. All encrypted data exists only on your device

Data Loss Disclaimer

THIS IS CRITICAL. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

VaultSnap encrypts your photos and videos using a master encryption key stored in your device's iOS Keychain. There is no cloud backup, no recovery email, no account system, and no way for the developer to access or recover your data.

Your encrypted data will be permanently and irrecoverably lost if:

  • You forget your PIN and do not have biometric unlock enabled
  • Your device is lost, stolen, or destroyed
  • The iOS Keychain is wiped (for example, by a factory reset)
  • You uninstall the app
  • The device's hardware fails

We cannot recover your data under any circumstances. There is no recovery mechanism, no master password held by the developer, and no server-side backup. You are solely responsible for understanding this limitation before storing important photos in VaultSnap.

We strongly recommend keeping a separate backup of any irreplaceable photos outside of VaultSnap.

Encryption Disclaimer

The encryption provided by VaultSnap is offered "as is." While we use industry-standard AES-256-GCM encryption via Apple's CryptoKit framework and store the master key in the iOS Keychain, we do not guarantee that the encryption is impervious to all forms of unauthorized access, including but not limited to advanced forensic techniques, zero-day vulnerabilities in iOS, or physical attacks on the device hardware.

Break-In Selfie Disclosure

VaultSnap includes an optional break-in detection feature (disabled by default). When you enable this feature:

  • After three consecutive failed PIN attempts, the app silently captures a photograph using the front-facing camera without providing notice to the person being photographed.
  • The captured image is encrypted and stored on your device.
  • Images automatically expire after 90 days.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of this feature complies with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws regarding photography, surveillance, consent, and privacy in your jurisdiction. Some jurisdictions require consent from all parties before capturing photographs or video.

We are not liable for any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from your use of the break-in selfie feature, including but not limited to claims of unauthorized photography, invasion of privacy, or surveillance.

Decoy Vault

VaultSnap offers a decoy vault feature that allows you to set a secondary PIN that opens an alternate vault containing innocuous content.

  • You are solely responsible for all content you store in any vault, including the decoy vault.
  • The developer has no access to and no knowledge of the content stored in any vault on your device.
  • You must not use the decoy vault feature to conceal illegal content. Doing so is a violation of these Terms.

Camera and Photo Library Access

VaultSnap requests camera access and photo library access to provide its core functionality:

  • Camera access is used for taking photos directly into the vault and for the optional break-in selfie feature. Photos captured by the in-app camera are encrypted immediately and are never saved to your device's camera roll.
  • Photo library access uses Apple's PHPicker, which runs in a separate process and provides VaultSnap only with the specific photos you select. VaultSnap never has broad access to your entire photo library.

In-App Purchases

VaultSnap offers a "Pro" upgrade through Apple's App Store. This purchase is processed by Apple and subject to Apple's App Store Terms and Conditions.

  • Pricing is displayed before purchase and may vary by region.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Restore previous purchases via Settings > Restore Purchase.

Advertising

Free-tier users may see ads powered by Google AdMob. Ad serving is subject to your tracking consent preferences and Google's Terms of Service.

Pro users are never shown ads. Upgrading to Pro permanently removes all advertising from the app.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app.
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose, including storing illegal content.
  • Attempt to interfere with the app's normal operation.
  • Attempt to extract, bypass, or circumvent the app's encryption mechanisms.
  • Use the break-in selfie feature in violation of applicable laws.
  • Use the decoy vault to conceal evidence of illegal activity.

Intellectual Property

VaultSnap, including its design, code, graphics, encryption implementation, and branding, is the intellectual property of Victor Solano. All rights reserved.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes subject to these Terms.

Disclaimer of Warranties

VaultSnap is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
  • The encryption will prevent all unauthorized access to your data.
  • Your data will be recoverable under any circumstances.
  • The break-in selfie feature will successfully capture images in all conditions.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Victor Solano shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the app.

This includes, without limitation:

  • Loss of encrypted photos or videos due to forgotten PINs, device loss, Keychain wipes, or any other cause.
  • Claims arising from your use of the break-in selfie feature.
  • Claims arising from content stored in your vault or decoy vault.
  • Unauthorized access to your encrypted data.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app (including in-app purchases) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
