Gloam ("the app") is a daily micro-journal for iOS. Journal entries, mood data, photo attachments, and preferences are stored on your device using SwiftData and UserDefaults. There are no user accounts, no cloud storage for journal data, no ads, no tracking, and no separate app analytics. If you choose to send a bug report, the email can include limited support and diagnostic information described below.
Gloam is developed and operated by TheChosenVictor LLC ("we," "us," "our"). Victor Solano owns TheChosenVictor LLC.
Gloam stores the following data entirely on your device. None of this data is uploaded, transmitted, or accessible to anyone other than you.
Each entry includes your written text, the date, the prompt you were shown, and timestamps. Entries are stored in an on-device database (SwiftData) within the app's sandboxed container.
Mood selections (such as "Peaceful," "Grateful," or "Anxious") are stored alongside each journal entry in the same on-device database.
Pro users can attach photos to entries. Photos are stored in the app's sandboxed container on your device. They are not encrypted separately but are protected by iOS data protection.
Settings such as reminder time, onboarding state, and purchase status are stored in UserDefaults on your device.
Gloam does not upload your journal entries, mood data, prompts, photos, or app preferences to the cloud. There is no user account system, journal sync, app-owned telemetry, or app-owned crash reporting. Your journal exists only on your device. The public website support form uses the separate support path described below.
Gloam does not show advertising of any kind. It does not include analytics SDKs, third-party advertising SDKs, consent SDKs, or a system tracking prompt.
Journal entries, mood selections, prompts, and photo attachments are not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for cross-app tracking.
When you attach a photo to an entry (a Pro feature), Gloam uses Apple's system photo picker. You select the specific photos you want to attach, and Gloam only receives those photos. Gloam does not use the camera and never gains access to your full photo library. Attached photos are stored only within the app's sandboxed container on your device.
Gloam can send local notifications to remind you to journal each evening. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to any server. You can disable reminders at any time in the app's settings or in iOS Settings.
Purchases are handled by Apple via StoreKit. Gloam does not process payment cards or billing credentials directly. Purchase validation happens on-device. No receipts are sent to external servers.
If you use Settings > Report Bug, Gloam prepares an email to support. You decide what to write and whether to send it. The prepared report includes your summary, reproduction steps, expected result, actual result, app version, iOS version, hardware model, current journal-entry count, and whether Gloam Pro is unlocked. Your mail app may also include your email address.
Gloam does not attach journal text, moods, prompts, or photos. The App Store privacy label classifies the support fields as Purchase History, Other Usage Data, and Other Diagnostic Data. They are linked to you only for App Functionality and are not used for tracking.
If you use the public website support form, we receive the app name, category, message, submission source, timestamp, and a one-way hash of your IP address. Your email address and device information are optional. The raw IP address is processed in memory for rate limiting and is not stored in the feedback record. The submission is stored in our support database and routed through Resend to the relevant support inbox. It does not include journal entries, mood data, prompts, or photos unless you choose to type that information into the message.
Outside information you choose to send through support, Gloam does not collect or request:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple StoreKit | In-app purchases | Apple Privacy Policy |
| Resend | Delivery of optional website support messages | Resend Privacy Policy |
| Storage | What is stored |
|---|---|
| SwiftData | Journal entries, mood data, photo attachments, app settings |
| UserDefaults | Preferences, onboarding state, purchase status |
All data resides within the app's sandboxed container, which is protected by iOS data protection.
You can delete individual journal entries from the timeline view. Uninstalling Gloam removes all app data from your device, including all journal entries, mood data, photo attachments, and preferences. This action is irreversible.
